2025 outcomes, published in full.
Gregg Feinerman, MD, FACS · Reporting period: calendar year 2025 · Updated annually
Most practices ask you to take their results on faith. We would rather show you the data. This page reports our complete 2025 outcomes with the Light Adjustable Lens™ (LAL®), compiled with the RxSight outcomes analysis program: every treated eye, including the difficult ones. In 2025, 98% of all Light Adjustable Lens eyes at our practice finished within 0.50 diopters of their target prescription, and 91% of distance-targeted eyes saw 20/20 or better without glasses. The sections below show exactly what those numbers mean, how our post-LASIK eyes did, and how all of it compares with the published literature.
The Light Adjustable Lens is the only intraocular lens whose power can be adjusted after surgery, once your eye has healed and your vision is real rather than predicted. More than 300,000 have been implanted worldwide (RxSight, 2026).
A diopter (D) is the unit of a glasses prescription, and prescriptions change in steps of 0.25 D. Finishing “within 0.50 D of target” means the final result landed within two of those smallest steps of the intended prescription. “Uncorrected” vision is what you see with no glasses at all. For reading vision, the Jaeger (J) scale is used: J2 corresponds roughly to the instruction print on a medicine bottle, and J1 is finer still.
| Measure (137 eyes) | Result | Eyes |
|---|---|---|
| Within 0.50 D of target prescription (spherical equivalent) | 98% | 134/137 |
| Within 0.50 D of target astigmatism correction (cylinder) | 95% | 130/137 |
| Within 0.25 D of target prescription (spherical equivalent) | 88% |
Distance vision, in the 77 eyes targeted for distance:
| Uncorrected distance vision | Result | Eyes |
|---|---|---|
| 20/15 or better | 27% | 21/77 |
| 20/20 or better | 91% | 70/77 |
| 20/25 or better | 96% | 74/77 |
| 20/40 or better (the driving standard) | 100% | 77/77 |
Reading vision, in the 47 eyes targeted for near:
| Uncorrected near vision | Result | Eyes |
|---|---|---|
| J1 or better | 32% | 15/47 |
| J2 or better (medicine bottle print) | 77% | 36/47 |
| J3 or better | 96% | 45/47 |
The Light Adjustable Lens is fine-tuned after surgery in brief, painless office light treatments, then locked in. In 2025, 46% of eyes needed only one light treatment, 30% needed two, and 25% needed three. That is why we describe the process as typically one to three treatments plus lock-in.
Eyes that had laser vision correction years ago are the most difficult eyes in cataract and lens surgery, because the reshaped cornea makes standard lens-power calculations less predictable. These are the eyes where the Light Adjustable Lens matters most, and where we watch our numbers most closely. Read more about cataract surgery after LASIK.
| Post-refractive eyes (48 eyes) | Result | Eyes |
|---|---|---|
| Within 0.50 D of target prescription (spherical equivalent) | 96% | 46/48 |
| Within 0.50 D of target astigmatism correction (cylinder) | 90% | 43/48 |
| Uncorrected distance 20/20 or better (29 distance-targeted eyes) | 86% | 25/29 |
| Uncorrected distance 20/40 or better | 100% | 29/29 |
| Uncorrected near J2 or better (18 near-targeted eyes) | 78% | 14/18 |
Within that post-refractive group, the 15 eyes with prior RK (10 patients) were the hardest of the hard cases, and they did the best: 100% (15 of 15) finished within 0.50 D of target prescription, 93% (14 of 15) within 0.50 D of the target astigmatism correction, and 8 of 10 distance-targeted eyes saw 20/20 or better without glasses. Read our full guide to the Light Adjustable Lens after RK.
How This Compares with the Published Literature
Each figure below is from its own peer-reviewed study of the Light Adjustable Lens. Our 2025 figures are shown for context; readers can draw their own conclusions.

| Doane et al., JCRS 2025 (multicenter registry) | All eyes | 91.1% to 93.5% |
| Jones et al., JCRS 2024 | Prior LASIK/PRK (76 eyes) | 86% |
| Wong et al., Clin Ophthalmol 2023 | Prior LASIK/PRK (34 eyes) | 97.1% |
| Feinerman Vision, 2025 (this page) | Post-RK eyes (15) | 100% |
| Webster et al., JCRS 2025 | Prior RK (94 eyes) | 88% |
| Holladay and Haller, JCRS 2025 (FDA post-approval) | Astigmatic eyes (332) | 92.5% with residual astigmatism 0.50 D or less |
Sample sizes are stated for every figure. Distance and near cohorts differ in size because each eye is targeted individually: in blended-vision plans, one eye is set for distance and the other for near. These results reflect one practice year and are updated annually. Past results do not guarantee any individual outcome, and no surgeon can promise a specific result. Whether the Light Adjustable Lens fits your eyes, your anatomy, and your goals is determined only by a comprehensive evaluation. Lens choice at Feinerman Vision is always personalized; no single lens is right for everyone.
The Care Behind the Numbers
Feinerman Vision is a single-surgeon boutique practice, founded in 2001. Dr. Feinerman personally performs every consultation and every surgery, calls patients the evening of surgery, and sees them himself the next day. He asks every patient to save his cell phone number so they can reach him directly, at any time, with any question or concern. Light Adjustable Lens treatments are performed at our Newport Beach office on the RxSight Light Delivery Device. Precision like the numbers above is a product of technology and attention, applied one patient at a time.
